I bought the Doris Mitchell letters as a 60th birthday present for my best friend as she loves the 1920s era. She is enjoying reading each monthly letter.

I purchased it for my best friend as she loves getting mail and is about the last letter writer I know!!! That is sad but I guess even us oldies have moved with the times!! She is thoroughly enjoying the story and lets me know as soon as the next instalment arrives!!!

I’ve just started reading Doris Mitchell’s journal entries in 'The Tearoom Diaries', and I’m already a little enchanted. Set in 1922, the writing feels so intimate, like you’ve stumbled across someone’s private thoughts and can’t help but keep turning the pages. Doris has such a natural, engaging voice. There’s something quietly captivating about the way she notices the world around her, and it makes you feel close to her almost immediately. I love receiving my monthly letter from 'The Tearoom Diaries. It's exciting not knowing what Doris Mitchell has been up to. The juicy snippets of gossip and revelations about her life, friendships and d'alliances are worth waiting for. Letter writing is nearly a thing of the past which is a shame as it is an art form and way of communicating that is rich in anticipation, mystery and an honesty that is missing in texting and phone calls today. Love the whole concept. Can't wait till March arrives.

My dearest friend gifted me Doris and William’s story for Christmas 2024. As each letter arrived I wrote a summary of the diary entries and sent them back to my friend, so she could share them as well. Now she has gifted me Lily’s diaries and I am waiting each month for the next part of her journey. Thank you for such a wonderful insight to their lives and the ongoing evolution of their stories.

I am beyond excited, I get two letters a month because I love the Diaries and one letter wasn’t enough. My teacup is ready and the kettle is boiling. I love receiving my letters! I always make myself a cup of Tea and sit down at the Dining table to open and enjoy my Letters from Doris. They take me back to simpler and gentler times. My Aunt worked in Georges back in the 1920s so I have many stories she shared with us and such happy memories of Block Arcade ,the lovely speciality Shops and particularly the TeaRooms . My favourite thing to do when I go into the City is stroll through the Arcades and soak in the beautiful Mosaic tiled Floors, the Architecture and charm of the Shops. Now I will be able to imagine all sorts of things while I wander through. I love the History of Melbourne in the 1920's that is so beautifully woven into the Letters and the gorgeous Postcards included. I always read all the extra information that is included on line too. Love to read about the Fashions of the time. such a Romantic and interesting Era. My Husband gave me this Collection of Letters for Christmas .....so thoughtful and the Perfect Gift for me. I'm enjoying receiving & reading my correspondence from Doris Mitchell. It's a lovely feeling when I see Doris' letter sitting in my letterbox & I take time out to sit quietly with a cuppa & read my letter. I am transported back in time & familiar with the storyline setting having visited Melbourne & country Victoria several times, strolled through the beautiful Block Arcade browsing in the shops & having morning tea with a friend in a quaint teashop many years ago now. The era of the storyline aligns with the young adult lives of my grandparents (now deceased). It makes me relive my connection with them, such fond memories. I have enjoyed the beautiful vintage cards I have received so far, & wrote & gave one to a girlfriend with the sentiment of "thinking of you". My purchase of Tearoom Diaries was a gift to my daughter. I know she is enjoying them and shares them with her teenage daughters as well.

I haven’t had the opportunity to read these for myself as I purchased this for a gift to my partners mother. I can report that she seems to love it ! It is quite a novel idea ( pun intended - ) and really enjoys the storyline. I know that she does anticipate the arrival of the next chapter arriving. Also, that she is keeping it in a special binder folder for an on going keepsake. And that I am looking forward to reading it when I get the opportunity since we live very far apart .

My mother was delighted with the gift surprise and quality of her first delivery - with all its components, including the teabag and letter storage box. Due to the month between mailed installments, she feels the reading of the letters will hold better continuity for her if she reads them one after the other perhaps at the 6 month mark. I bought this as a gift for my 88yo mother for Christmas, who lives on her own interstate from me and she tells me how much she looks forward to the letters coming in the mail. She reads them over and over and picks up on things she has missed in a previous reading. She says it is the best Christmas gift she has received in many, many years because it lasts a whole year. I will be buying her the other collections for Christmas this year, She ahs told me that the presentation is amazing and that she is able to imagine the scenery the writer talks about with ease.

It’s such a delightful experience receiving a beautiful letter in the mail. The characters and story make you smile. Adding to this, is the feeling of familiarity with Melbourne landmarks. I love the postcards and notice that I check the letter box more often, waiting for the next delivery.

I bought The Tea Room Diaries for a friend's birthday and she absolutely loves them. She so looks forward to them arriving each month, often saying that she can't wait until the next one arrives to see what happens. The good thing is that I get to read them too and she's decided to put them all into a folder as a keepsake. The letters are keeping us guessing at the moment! I was given this as a Christmas gift. Its arrival was a complete surprise, which I delighted in. My mystery sender was my bestie who after a while confessed - It was me! I have enjoyed receiving a letter each month and wait patiently for each to arrive. I make a cup of tea, sit down to open and read. Re-reading to ensure no piece of information has been missed. Then looking up the historical information to complete the story and get a richer understanding of Melbourne in the 1020’s. This is up there as one of the most fantastic gifts I have ever received.

I was sceptical at first but decided to give it a try. I love it. It’s like getting a letter from a friend telling how the world is treating her.
